Omelet's that you just have to try...

I've received this in an e-mail that many of you may have received as well. I had always wondered if it actually worked. So, as a family we decided to try it one morning and they worked out great! We've had this breakfast with guests on two separate occasions since and have still enjoyed them. I thought I'd post it here so that you may want to try it as well.

Ta-da!

The ZIPLOC OMELET

This actually works great ! I think it is nice for a group breakfast or good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet !

  1. Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.
  2. Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.
  3. Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.
  4. Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
  5. Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes [we did 15 minutes]. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
  6. Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed. Ta-da!

Serving Suggestions:

  • Nice to serve with fresh fruit and a muffin. Everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece also.
  • Imagine having these ready the night before, and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 15 minutes, you've got a nice omelet for a quick breakfast (and healthier too)!
